The filmmaker Kiran Rao said in a recent interview that she’d like to see Animal because the audiences have been a big part of the success.
Director and producer Kiran Rao would like to see Sandeep Reddy Vanga‘s Animal. Interview with the magazine Lallantop Kiran Rao said that even though she hasn’t seen the film at present because it’s not really her thing but she’d like to give it a shot because the audiences loved it. “It’s essential that I observe Animal‘
In discussing the positive reaction Laapataa Ladies has gotten, Kiran explained that it’s uncommon for critics as well as the viewers to enjoy the same film. Kiran also said that audiences tend to lean toward action-oriented films, while critics aren’t always able to be so. This is the reason why she was surprised that reviewers liked the film.
She added, “Laapataa Ladies has gotten many compliments, I am so grateful. Even critics have praised it. If the public is enthusiastic about a film, it’s not a requirement that critics also like it. The public loves movies that are action-packed and VFX-heavy nowadays. Films such as Animal. I’d like to watch the film because it’s important. The film has been successful because people have adored it. There is a rumor that Sandeep Vanga’s work is very good. Ranbir (Kapoor) can be an excellent actor. It’s an exciting experience for me to see, people seem to love the film.”
When Kiran demanded gender awareness
In 2023, while speaking at an event, Kiran called for gender sensitisation. He cited the example of a study conducted by the Tata Institute for Social Science, as reported by TOI. The study revealed that, both in and out of the screen female and representation of the queer were largely stereotyped. She mentioned Kabir Singh for an illustration of films that glorify stalking perform exceptionally well.’
Sandeep responded to her during a conversation with Dainik Bhasker. She asked her to “go talk to Aamir Khan’s opinion on how certain lyrics from his film Dil glorified the sexism of women. A re-issued apology from Aamir also became viral, in which Aamir admitted that he was ashamed to be involved in irresponsible movies which didn’t accurately portray women.
Kiran later admitted to The Quint that she never made any comments on the films of Sandeep because she’s never seen them, and she didn’t mention one of the films. Kiran also said that her ex-husband apologized over the song aside from stating that she isn’t accountable’ for his actions.
