ED Tells Court: Kejriwal Claims Nair Reported to Atishi, Not Him

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday, told Rouse Avenue Court that it had been informed by the Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) head Arvind Kejriwal informed the agency central that Delhi excise law case was acquitting Vijay Nair reported to Delhi Minister Atishi.

He also mentioned Saurabh Bharadwaj as a suspect regarding the excise policy matter, India Today reported. Accused in the Delhi excise policy case, Vijay Nair is the former communication-in-charge of the AAP.

In the words of ED, according to the ED, Delhi CM told them, “Vijay Nair didn’t report to him but to Atishi Marlena and Saurabh Bharadwaj and his interaction with Vijay Nair was limited.”

The central agency claimed in its request that Kejriwal was unresponsive to questions regarding what the reasons were behind why Vijay Nair worked from the Camp Office of the Chief Minister, by pretending ignorance about the people working at the Chief Minister’s camp office.

The central agency demanded Kejriwal’s custody in a judicial proceeding, in part, citing “non-cooperative behaviour“. The Additional Solicitor General SV Raju, appearing on behalf of the ED was quoted the following by Bar & Bench: “Arvind Kejriwal’s conduct has been totally non-cooperative and he has tried to mislead the interrogation.”

The agency also stated: “He did not reveal the password for digital devices… His conduct was totally non-cooperative. He is not giving his phone and deliberately misleading the investigation by giving evasive replies.” On Monday the Delhi’s Rouse Avenue court remanded Kejriwal to judicial detention until March 15th in the Delhi case of the liquor scam.

In the meantime, Arvind Kejriwal’s lawyers also submitted a request to the Delhi High Court to allow the entrepreneur to carry three books-three of them – Bhagavad Geeta, Ramayan, and How Prime Ministers Decide by journalist Neerja Chaudhary-into prison.

The Delhi HC directed the ED to submit a status report to the trial court in relation to the PIL asking for a restraint of Arvind Kejriwal from issuing directions to be released from custody. In addition, the High Court also ordered the central agency to consider the PIL as if it were its own representative.

The case is currently examined by the ED as well as The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

The investigation is focused on allegations of corruption in the creation of a liquor policy of AAP government. AAP Government in Delhi.

Arvind Kejriwal was detained the 21st of March in connection to an investigation into money laundering connected to the Delhi liquor scam. After his arrest on the 21st of March and his transfer to ED custody until March 28. The 28th of March the custody of Kejriwal has been extended four days to April 1.

During the interrogation, Arvind KJRiwal stated that Vijay Nair used to report to Atishi Marlena and not to him as the ED informed that the judge on Monday. Vijay Nair is the former communication-in-charge of the AAP and one of the prime accused persons in the Delhi excise policy case.
